This roundtable discussion will feature female voices of contemporary Russian-American fiction. Moderated by Columbia University professor Anna Katsnelson, the panel will include the authors Yelena Akhtiorskaya, Sana Krasikov, Ellen Litman, Irina Reyn and Lara Vapnyar. The discussion will focus on the significant achievements of Russian-American women in literature and their connection to contemporary movements like #MeToo. Together with fellow female writers, Anna will discuss the application of transnationalism and multiculturalism to their works, analyze the interaction of national and cultural identity and speak about their breakthrough into mainstream, male dominated, Russian-American literature.
